INTRODUCTION

          According to the law of conservation of energy, the total energy of a system remain constant, though energy may transform into another form.

          Energy is the ability to do work, energy may be store (potential energy) or it can be said to be a property of an objects motion (kinetic energy) while the scientific definition of energy has been defined for centuries and thus has very specific meaning, the mainstream usage of the word is often in conflict with the scientific definition additionally. The two classification of energy (potential and kinetic) are often broken down into different types, leading some to incorrectly believe that there are other form of energy in fact, all form of energy can be generalized as either potential or kinetic.

          Potential energy is to stored energy that is, the amount of work that an object can do as a result of its position (and mass) relative to another object, for in short, a bowling ball has potential that is held above the floor can be released, thus following and crushing a pack of cigarettes on the floor. The bowling ball has potential energy because of its position relative to the floor (which gravity attracts it towards) and the work that it can do is the crushing of the pack of cigarettes. Not all types of potential energy are as easy to identify as the bowling ball. However Potential energy is also the types of energy found in dry and wet cell batteries, nuclear reaction and even springs.

          Kinetic energy is often easier to identify. It is the result of the speed (and mass) of an object for instance, the bowling ball from the previous example can be thrown at a glass window, the faster that the bowling ball is flying through the air, the greater the commence that the bowling ball window will shatter.

MEANING OF ENERGY: Energy is the ability or capacity to work. Energy can simple be described as the capacity or ability to cause physical change. It is a requirement to achieving anything physical. It does not occur in tangible state but is more of a condition possessed by naturally occurring element. Energy is measured in joules or e ergs and occurs in various forms. 103 IMPORTANT OR NEED OF ENERGY

                   Since man invented fire, he has relied on one energy source of another energy plays a huge factor in our lives providing comfort, increasing productivity and allowing as to live the way we want too. Our live are literally surrounding by energy but we do not often stop to think about why those energy sources are important.

          Our bodies depend on energy, as do our homes, vehicles and factories. On earth, the sun is the source of nearly all of our energy, without energy nothing would live, move or change. It is hard work pedaling uphill or moving heavy object about. To scientists, work is done whenever a force make something move. The greater the force and the further it moves, the more work is done. If something has energy, it means that it is capable of doing work. An engine uses the energy in its fuel to move a car along. A battery can store the energy needed to term an electric motor and some winds carry enough energy to blow tree over. A lot things also have energy. In any material, the tiny particles (soms) of which it is made are always on the move. Heating the material make it atom move faster. Scientist measure energy in joules (J). A litre of petrol stores about 35 million joules. But this energy can be used to produce motion that you see (such as a car speeding up) or tiny movement that you cannot see like the atoms moving more quickly when something get hot).

104 ENERGY AROUND US:         Energy is all around us. The sunlight moving wind and water have energy. Energy can change from one form to another. Without energy plant cannot grow, animals cannot move and machines do not work.

          Energy makes changes: It does things for us. It moves cars along the road and boats over the water. It bates a cake in the oven and keeps ice frozen in the freezer. Energy make our bodies grow and allow our mind to think.

Although energy exist everywhere in energy is use in solving energy crisis is going to take a lot of social action combined with government support. So yes it is all around us in every form imaginable seen and unseen. Energy cheaply has never been more necessary them it is now, with oil recently breaking its all time inflation adjusted high price. The era of inexpensive power is over perhaps for good, which mean its time to extend beyond energy efficiency to energy scavenging.

ENERGY IS CONTINUALLY SHAPING AND RESHAPING
